why i built this:
This past year I became a mom for the first time. I have lived in five major cities, joined countless communities, and have more group chats on my phone than I can keep up with. Yet I still found myself in one of the loneliest periods of my life.
We join communities craving in-person connection. But there’s a missing layer between events where we can get to know who else is in the community and build those relationships. Group chats weren’t designed for this.
Meanwhile, the people building these communities are organizing events, managing dues, finding sponsors, and making introductions, often alongside a separate full-time job. These groups need more than an event booking site or another group chat. They need a home that captures their culture, helps leaders run the community, and gives members a way to connect in between.
So, I built Commons.
Our mission is to provide the missing layer that turns a group of members into a community.
Thanks for being here.
questions?
Who is Commons for?
Commons is for the curated communities that light up at events but lack a proper home in between. A space for members to get to know one another. One tool for the leader to hold it all. We built this for the membership communities that don't belong on Circle or WhatsApp. Designed for founder circles, dinner series, motherhood groups, creative collectives, and more. A place where every new member feels like they belong from day one.
How much does Commons cost?
Core Commons is free for community leaders and members. Create your community, invite your people, and start connecting.
For leaders who need more, we’re launching premium tools and a dedicated dashboard in spring 2027, with more ways to manage and grow your community. Stay tuned.
How do I bring my community to Commons?
Create your community profile, then invite your members by email or share your community’s unique invite link. No forms, no waiting, no manually adding people to multiple chats. Members arrive in a home that reflects your community’s culture, with conversations and history ready to explore.
What can members do on Commons?
Discover the people behind the profiles, ask for a recommendation, or pick up a conversation from your last gathering. Put a coffee invitation out there, or see who’s free for dinner after work. Give them a place to develop their relationships outside of events.
How is Commons different from a chat app?
Stay in the Loop lets you follow the conversations that matter to you without keeping up with every message. Threaded replies keep discussions organized, and conversation history helps new members get to know your community’s culture. Member profiles and plans give your community room to grow beyond the chat.
